Making quality education accessible

We at FLY teach underprivileged kids who were unable to access quality education during the pandemic due to unavailability of resources. We aim to reduce dropout rates. We have our chapters in various parts of the world. Join us to make an impact and start a club in your own city!

Description

Fun Learning Youth is a research and impact nonprofit organization working on welfare of underprivileged students through education. Founded by teenagers in the pandemic aiming to reduce dropout rates and bridge the educational gap created by online education, it focuses on the bigger goal of improving attendance and quality of education worldwide. Students will return to school two years after they have completed their education and will have trouble understanding the principles taught. During this procedure, we saw a number of pupils who, even at the age of 15, were unable to complete simple arithmetic operations. Furthermore, the majority of youngsters began working and contributing to their families' financial well-being.

Our FLY volunteers collect underprivileged students from their areas and teach them for at least four hours each week, based on their prior knowledge and understanding. Every volunteer's class resembles a tiny team of folks from various backgrounds and ages, where children learn from their teachers and peers. Our volunteers range from high school students to government school teachers, creating a broad spectrum of perspectives leading to effective discussions.

Who are we?

Fun Learning Youth is a social nonprofit organization. It is a youth-run volunteer based campaign for the welfare of underprivileged kids around the world. We are passionate about change-making and want to make the world a better place.

What do we do?

We at FLY, help kids to overcome their educational hurdles. Through teaching, mentoring, funding, convincing parents, and providing necessary goods to kids, we align their interest in education. Also, we believe that our impact is not just the kids we teach, but the ones we motivate. Everyday, through social media and local newspapers, we motivate people around the world to raise their voices for change.

Why is this needed?

Here comes the story of why this organization was founded in the first place. It was seen among many communities, including the one of our founders, that many students were completely disconnected by education throughout the pandemic. 8-year old's never got to register in school, and 14-year old's started working as laborers without completing their primary education.

In this process, we also came across poor education quality provided by schools, looking at skills and knowledge of kids relative to other students in their age. This motivated us to work towards improving the quality of education students get.

Who do we teach?

We teach kids who could not afford online education or their education was hampered in any way. We help them improve their grades, find their interests, and get back to school if they have dropped out. We do not charge any kind of fees to the students.

How do we do this?

Our teaching volunteers from around the world find underprivileged kids around them, teach them, and connect to them at a personal level. We help at every step of this process as per volunteer’s need. These volunteers may also distribute material/packages to kids after consulting with authority. We encourage volunteers to consult parents if needed, try to solve student’s problems at a personal level, and provide quality education and resources.

What is our aim?

There are many children who have dropped out of school due to financial issues and no offline classes in schools due to COVID-19. These students have started to work for daily wages and provide secondary financial support to their families. We want each and every student to be interested and complete their education. Our primary goal is to provide quality education to the underprivileged kids free of cost. Along with that, we try to solve problems faced by students in their daily lives by mentoring and arranging seminars for their well-being.

How to form a chapter?

Forming a chapter is an easy 3-step process.
  1. Find underprivileged kids around your locality, nearby slums, or orphanages. You can do so by contacting existing NGOs, asking children in your community, or asking maids/watchmen/construction workers if their children need help.
  2. Invite them to a classroom/park/play-ground where a class can be conducted. (Keep COVID restrictions in mind)
  3. Connect with them, teach them, and send us photos!
Please connect with us before-hand so that we can guide you through the process with our exclusive tips and sessions.

How do we help you in this?

We provide guidance sessions, tips, study resource material, and insight from existing chapter heads. There are regular discussions to solve this pressing problem, even beyond our scope and reach.

How do we obtain funds?

Currently, our founders are funding us with scholarships and award money they have received. We soon plan to start funding.

How do we run our organization?

Our management volunteers handle various actions of the club including social media, chapters, and resources. We update our information frequently on platforms. We also welcome collaborations. Conducting regular meetings with volunteers, planning for new techniques and projects in the welfare of our student base, and spreading awareness through social media about the need for quality education among social groups are some of the activities included in the well-functioning of our club.
